Quantum steering, entanglement and Bell nonlocality

چکیده
Quantum steering, the ability of one party to perform a measurement on their side of an entangled system with different outcomes leading to different sets of states for another part of the entangled system arbitrarily far away, is a purely quantum phenomena with no classical analogue. However, it is closely related (and indeed equivalent for pure states) to entanglement and Bell nonlocality. This work reviews the connections between steering, entanglement and Bell nonlocality, and both the theoretical background and recent practical applications of steering.

Bell’s Nonlocality Can be Detected by the Violation of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen Steering Inequality
Recently quantum nonlocality has been classified into three distinct types: quantum entanglement, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering, and Bell's nonlocality. Among which, Bell's nonlocality is the strongest type. Bell's nonlocality for quantum states is usually detected by violation of some Bell's inequalities, such as Clause-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality for two qubits. Steering is a manifestati...

In a recent work Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 140402 2007 we defined “steering,” a type of quantum nonlocality that is logically distinct from both nonseparability and Bell nonlocality. In the bipartite setting, it hinges on the question of whether Alice can affect Bob’s state at a distance through her choice of measurement. More precisely and operationally, it hinges on the question of whether Alice, ...
متن کاملGaussian Quantum Steering of Two Bosonic Modes in a Thermal Environment
Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steerability of quantum states is a property that is different from entanglement and Bell nonlocality. We describe the time evolution of a measure that quantifies steerability for arbitrary bipartite Gaussian states in a system consisting of two bosonic modes embedded in a common thermal environment. We work in the framework of the theory of open quantum systems. If the ...

We investigate the complexity cost of demonstrating the key types of nonclassical correlations — Bell inequality violation, EPR-steering, and entanglement — with independent agents, theoretically and in a photonic experiment. We show that the complexity cost exhibits a hierarchy among these three tasks, mirroring the recently-discovered hierarchy for how robust they are to noise. For Bell inequ...

In this work, there are two parties, Alice on Earth and Bob on the satellite, which initially share an entangled state, and some open problems, which emerge during quantum steering that Alice remotely steers Bob, are investigated. Our analytical results indicate that all entangled pure states and maximally entangled evolution states (EESs) are steerable, and not every entangled evolution state ...
